Dear Hiring Manager, I am excited to submit my application for the Software Developer position at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. I am particularly impressed with the multi-institutional collaborative research projects that incorporate semantic graph technologies to facilitate data interoperability for scientific research and other communities. As someone who has acquired strong knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, including Semantic-Web, Knowledge-Representation and Reasoning, Rules, Knowledge-Acquisition, NLP, and ML, I believe I am well-suited for this position. During my experience as a Senior Research Software Engineer at NCSA, I have been focusing on semantics/metadata search, metadata-based data-management, NLP/NER, and sim. I did the PoC versions of GeoCODES, including the one I helped organize for our review, which was very well-received. I also still advise my startup on semantic-search based on my UCSF work. These are only a few of the interesting knowledge-based applications I've developed over the years. I believe that my experience in Knowledge Engineering and Research Programming aligns well with the job description. I am hoping to continue to integrate these experiences into my RSE work, acting as a Research Knowledge Engineer. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss how I can contribute to the team and the projects. Thank you for considering my application. Sincerely, Michael Bobak
