I am excited to submit my application for the Software Developer position at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. I am particularly impressed with the multi-institutional collaborative research projects that incorporate semantic graph technologies to facilitate data interoperability for scientific research and other communities. As someone who has acquired strong knowledge in Artificial Intelligence: Semantic-Web, Knowledge-Representation and Reasoning, Rules, Knowledge-Acquisition, NLP, and ML, I believe I am well-suited for this position.

During my experience as a Senior Research Software Engineer at NCSA, I have been focusing on semantics/metadata search, with some metadata-based data-management, NLP/NER and sim. I did the PoC versions of GeoCODES, including the one I helped organize for our review, which was very well received.  I also still advise my startup on semantic-search based on my UCSF work as well. These being only a few of the interesting knowledge-based applications I've done over the years.

I believe that my experience in Knowledge Engineering and Research Programming aligns well with the job description. I am hoping to continue to integrate these experiences into my RSE work acting as a Research Knowledge Engineer. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss how I can contribute to the team and the projects.

I have been concentrating on semantics and metadata search while working as a Senior Research Software Engineer at NCSA. I have also done some metadata-based data management, NLP/NER, and simulation. I completed the GeoCODES Proof-of-Concept versions, which included the one I organized for our review and which was well-received.  In addition, I continue to give my startup advice on semantic search based on my work at UCSF. These are just a few of the intriguing knowledge-based projects I've worked on over the years.

I think my background in research programming and knowledge engineering fits the job description well. Acting as a Research Knowledge Engineer, I intend to keep incorporating these experiences into my work. I would appreciate the chance to talk more about how I can help the team and the projects.
